data type clarification urgent....

hai there,
i am not able to use long data type completely in oracle 8i i am able
to use only 4000 bytes completely,is ther any configuration to be done
before using it.
plz reply me on mkkr_kiran@yahoo.co.in

In theory, nothing is wrong.  Continue thinking as normal.  (One of the
numerous Oracle groups will be glad to help with a practical question.)
