That's not what was asked. The problem occurs when you have added an
item to one layout and then want to copy it to several existing layouts.
It never pastes into the same spot it was copied from. You are then
required to move it after pasting.
I think that pasting into the same spot on a different layout should be
the norm. Virtually every time I do paste to a new layout I want the
item in the same spot.

You have 2 options:
1. Use the Object Size pallet to identify exactly where to place the
object.
2. Create a rectangle object and move it to the upper left corner of the
window, as far as it will go to the top and the left. Select that object
and the object(s) you want to move; copy. Go to the other layout, click in
the upper left corner and paste. As long as you put the rectangle object in
the far upper left, everything should be in the right place. Now you just
delete the rectangle objects from each layout.
