Hi,
It looks like we're angling towards using Filemaker
but I wondered, are there any problems to watch for
when installing it on a machine that already has a DB
installed? ( For our scenario it would likely be Access
that's already installed. )
Do they cohabit without problems or are there
gotchas to watch out for?
Appreciate any and all input.
TIA,
Gerry Murphy

In a word - No.
In fact, it is hard enough to get most databases to read each other's files,
on purpose.
You can also have different versions of FileMaker installed and they too do
not have problems coexisting on the same HD.

I think the poster was just wondering if the two databases could live
together on the same computer, not share data or join forces. If this is
the case, then there shouldn't be any problems.

Michael,
That is the way I read it too.
Did you miss my first sentence of my first reply "In a word - No"?

I saw, "In a word - No" and was considering his question,
Do they cohabit without problems or ....
Oh well. Best regards,

Gerry,
They will work fine together on the same machine - I have several systems
set up in this manner.
And in fact you can even convert Access databases to FileMaker 7 with FmPro
Migrator (www.fmpromigrator.com).
