I am running DB2 UDB Workgroups V8.2 on Linux. I don't believe I
installed the Data Warehouing capability when I installed. Is it
difficult to enable that capability post installation?, and a second
question is "Are the data warehousing capabilities available with my
install limited, or are they full blown capabilities?, or is full Data
Warehousing a separate product and install?, with a separate purchase
price? If so I will proceed to IBM to get all relevant information.
At this early stage I wish to learn from your experiences. Thank you
for anything you can provide. Perhaps if you are aware of a
whitepaper that may describe what I'm asking for, that could be very
helpful. Thanks
Claude

It depends on what you mean by "data warehousing capability".
I think you're referring to the checkbox from the DB2 Installer that
mentions data warehousing. This checkbox installs a couple of
components that were used by DB2 Warehouse Manager. Warehouse
manager provides some very basic ETL tools.
Please note that this product (DB2 Warehouse Manager) has been
discontinued, so I would not use it.
In DB2 9.1 and later releases, DB2 Data Warehouse Edition includes
a component "SQL Warehousing" which provides similar functionality
to what was available DB2 Warehouse Manager.

Hi!
With DB2 V9.5 (or earlier) Enterprise Server Edition you have the possibility to
partition the database across multiple CPU's and or Servers. Thus DB2 can run "dataware house questions" in parallell across the
partitions. Search DB2 documentation for partitioned databases.
"Administration Guide Planning" has a good overview on the issue.
