Hello,

I have ntoiced something peculiar happening on our db2 instance.

It serves as the backend rdbms for a java application that is hosted on
websphere app server. The app server has a connection pool that can
grow upto 250 connection.

The database has also been configuired to handle this many connections.
The db2 server has 2GB of memory.

Over the course of te day, we see an increase in the swap space
consumption by almost 70%. The usual side effect this has is that we
have to restart the app server or else, the db2 server crashes.

Is there a known problem in this mode of operation? Could anyone offer
me some information/directions for investigations?

Need more information. What platform you running on? What service level?
What release/fixpack level of DB2 you running? Have you opened a PMR
with IBM support to check on any possible defects?

DB2 generally want to have real memory available for its use.

You need to start all your applications with DB2 shut down and determine how
much real memory is available, and then configure DB2 (especially the buffer
pools) to make sure you don't use more than the real memory available.
