Can you rename a DB2 instance?

Or you pretty much have to backup the databases on the instance. Drop
it. Create another instance with a new name. Restore redirect the
backed up database onto the new instance.

Yes, you must do all those things. Cannot rename.

Couldn't one create the new instance and then use the db2relocatedb command
to achieve the same result.
If the db's are large, one might save a lot of space and time????
