db2 8.2 (8.1 FP9a) on AIX 5.2.

The 8.2 information center (online version) states that "The only
64-bit platform that currently supports DB2 XML Extender is the HP-UX
platform".

Is this still the case, and if so, can someone tell me if they know of
any IBM plans to support XML Extender on 64-bit AIX.

Thanks
Bruce

That is still the case - the XML extender is 64-bit only on HP. In a
fututre release, XML support will be done natively inside the DB2
engine. You can read about DB2's XML plans by searching on these
keywords:

viper xml db2
