Hi,

We are running with DB2 V7 Fp12.
When stopping the apply when apply isn't active the asnastop command
displays the informational message
ASN0889I No Apply program running with the qualifier '<apply-qual>'

but the RC returned is 4240584. We tested it with FP6 years ago and we
never saw this kind of RC's.

Does anybody know where these Rc's are documented, I couldn't find
anything.

A few months back, Jan Nelken gave this link in answer to a similar question
about looking up return codes:

bookmarked it at the time, thinking it might come in handy some day ;-)

Unfortunately, this document is for DB2 V8.1 and doesn't contain the code
you want, 4240584. Perhaps there is a similar document for V7 at a "nearby
URL" that contains your code? Or maybe Jan Nelken is lurking and knows the
equivalent URL for V7? Otherwise, a search of the IBM website using some of
the same keywords as are used in the PDF I cited will help you find the V7
document.

Sorry, it's not as much help as I would have liked to give but I don't know
anything else to try.

Thanks Rhino, but Google didn't return any hit neither did the Db2
support site.

With great distaste (V7 is out of service for a year now) - can I have a look at
complete apply log?

Sorry, the apply isn't active when asnastop was started so there are no
messages in the app and trc files. In fact, nothing is wrong besides the
RC returned. Why should ASNASTOP return RC = 4240584 after an
informational message is displayed?

The issue of running with old versions is caused by IBM license changes.
When running a TxSeries/COBOL/DB2 application on Windows just take a
look at the changing license fees over the years and then you know why
customers don't like to upgrade.
When we started with these products a TxSeries license was based on the
numbers of users. With only a couple of users per server on 140 small
Windows servers you get a major jump in license costs when the license
is changed to server based. Our customer didn't want to pay for newer
software with costs rising with 1000% when it doesn't add functionality.

Putting philosophical question about sense of life and sense of upgared aside -
nothing short of looking into V7 code comes to mind. Sorry.
