Tips for Managing Multiple DB2 Server Versions?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to effectively manage an environment
that has multiple DB2 server environments running on different
versions? We have several different systems mostly running on UNIX, but
not all running the same level of DB2. We have version 6, 7, and 8
servers. I'm having difficulty using a version 8 client to do
everything I need to do on 7 database (e.g., EXPORT utility not
supported). I would love to upgrade, but the old adage that says "if it
ain't broken, don't fix it" appears to be the mantra among management
and those controlling the pursestrings.

Is there a third party toolset perhaps that can span different release
levels? Is there way to have multiple versions of a DB2 client
installed and transparently switch between them depending on which
database needs to be used? Currently I have to use a different machine
to manage each environment and this is very tedious to switch between
machines to do so.

Thanks in advance for your input,

Evan

V6 / V7 are interoperable.  The V7 client will work with the V8 server,
although there are limitations.

The tool you are looking for is VMware.  That will let you have both the
V7 and V8 clients installed on the "same" machine.
