Hi,

one Windows administrator changed the servername (hostname) of one of
our database servers.

What changes do I have to to to get my databases connected?

The catalog statements have to be adjusted, I know.

I changed the admin configuration too and I don't know what to do with
the spm name.

Server is Windows 2003 standard, DB2 Version 8.1 Fixpack 7 (with special
build).

Any hints?

Kind regards

Dirk

Hi!

In SQLLIB/DB2/db2nodes.cfg you have to change the hostname in order to DB2
even start.

Best regards,

I found the SPM_NAME of every instance which carries the hostname and
db2set has hostname informations in DB2INSTOWNER and DB2ACCOUNTNAME.

Is it safe to change them?

Kind regards

Hi!

This SPM_NAME parameter is derived from the hostname as the documentation
(http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2help/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.ud
b.doc/admin/r0000339.htm
)
says, but you can change it at will.
You can also read more at
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2help/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.ud
b.doc/ad/c0006975.htm

This parameter is valid in two-phase commit environments.

Best regards,
      Kovi
