Hi,
I have no DB2 or SAP knowledge, but would like to know if someone has
done Quickshadow Space optimised snapshot of SAP/DB2 and did a restore
from the snapshots.
We try to backup SAP/DB2, by bring the DB2 database in online backup
mode and to a Quickshadow space optimised snapshot, by issuing a HDS
Quick Shadow command, after this
we bring DB2 out of online (hot backup) mode and split the shadow copy
of and mounting it on the backup server and backing up to tape.
If we have to restore the DB2 database what implication will this have
on SAP and will SAP accept the restored database?
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Horst Simon

Hi,
we use
db2 set write suspend for db
{create snapshot}
db2set write resume for db
{backup snapshot as files}
for all our SAP servers. They are running Windows Server 2003 EE ,
DB2/UDB 8.* , SAP R/3 4.6C, 4.7 and NW04. We are using HDS SAN disks,
but we prefer to use Volume Shadow Copy service built into W2K3 instead
of QuickShadow/TrueCopy for snapshots.
