Date Format problem

Hi,

I am fairly new on
UDB.
I am experiencing
a problem with a
VB6 program that
executes a query
that is supposed to
return date values
from a table. The
query returns an
empty result. But
if I execute the
same
query on Command
Center it does
return a
resultset.
The date format on
the table is
mm/dd/yyyy. Does
anyone know what
could be causing
this?

Thanx

What version of UDB? What version of the Client? And which ODBC driver
are you using?

Hi B.,

Here are the details.

Server
DB2 v8.1.9.700 fixpack 9.
IBM DB2 ODBC Driver: version 8.01.09.700

Client:
DB2 UDB version 8.1.0.36 Build s021023
IBM DB2 ODBC Driver version 8.01.00.36

Thanx.

If I understand you correctly, you created a query that returns no data
while run inside your application (VB6), but does return data while run
through command centre on the same PC that you tried the VB6 program
from?

Can you try the query using a third party tool such as MS-Query, or
Access?  This will give you a feel for whether your ODBC connection is
fine or not.  I'm not sure but you may be connecting via CLI when using
the command centre.

If the ODBC is fine, then you have a VB6 issue.  I do not program in
VB6 so I am not sure if it is a compiled program.  If so you may have
not bound the resulting .bnd file to your database.  Do you have other
VB6 programs that communicate with DB2 ?

If the ODBC is not fine then you must set this up.

Hope this will help you home in on the problem.

Regards,
Richard McCutcheon.

You also have a line wrapping problem. Please make your question
readable by setting the line length to at least 60.

Kind regards, Gert
