I have taken a backup of a production database and copied it to a test
server.  I'm attempting to use the Control Center to create the
database from the backup.  However, when I get to the screen to select
the backup to restore from, there are no backup files visible through
the Control Center even if I navigate to where I copied the backup
file. Is there a reason why my backup files don't show up through the
Control Center?  Thanks.  Is there a better way to restore this backup?
DB2 version 8.2 and Windows 2003.

On the receiving system, the Control Center cannot display the backup image
copy source because it did not take it. Your receiving system Database
Recovery History file does not have the entry that the backup was made on
another system and you just copied the file.
You back up on the source sytem to X;\somedir

You need to move the whole path to the receiving system.
X;\somedir\dbname.0\instname\node0000\catn0000\YYYMMDD
The file you put there should be: HHMMSS.001 which is the image of your
backup.

Even then the Control Center on the system where you copied this will not be
able to see the recovery history file and therefore will not be able to show
you the the source files for your restore.
