Nodename in catalog?

can anyone explain what should be given for Nodename entry in the
'catalog TCPIP" command  ...... pls let me what exactly is NODE
..........

Did you check the Command Reference manual?? It plainly states that this
is a "local alias", an "arbitrary name" that you pick that is
"meaningful" to you. The CATALOG DATABASE command uses the node name to
identify where the database is located.
