I'm working with several stored procedures processing a large volume of
data. After monitoring their execution using Quest's Spotlight
functionality I noticed a fair number of overflow accesses against
system tables such as SYSTABLES. I also observe page reorgs for the
SYSCOLDIST and SYSCOLUMNS tables.

My question for someone with experience tuning DB2 is how much of a
performance impact do these overflows and page reorgs have? Are they
worth addressing? I increased the buffer pool sizes for the syscat
tablespace somewhat but haven't seen a significant decrease in
overflows. Is more memory the best way to address this? Etc.

Any background would be helpful.
