I'm trying out Informix IDS 9.4 on Windows XP Pro.  Finally got it
installed and got ISA running.  But when I do "Check" I get the
following error:

"Unexpected Error
Unable to retrieve information about databases. If the server is
online, then the sqlhosts file may be damaged, or perhaps sysmaster
didn't build or is still building, or the database may be locked by
another user, or DBSPACETEMP is not accessible. at
c:\ibm\isa\bin\check.pl line 19 "

I don't think the sysmaster ever completes creation.

I also get this error when I try to do the ON-BAR backup:

"File not found: C:\PROGRA~1\Informix\bar_ol_mgrgolla.log"

Thanks for any help you can give.

Examine the message log, usually named %INFORMIXDIR%\online.log. This
file will most likely contain information about any IDS related problem.

Further: In Start->Programs->Informix there's a command window
(ol_machinename), which has all needed environment. Issue the command
'onstat -', this will return the state of IDS. You can also issue a
reinitialization from here: 'onmode -ivy' (carefull, any existing data
will be lost). The v-option will show progress output.

I did this and then did onstat -a.  As you can see build_smi failed.
Here is output from the beginning of this:

I just noticed this at the end of the buildsmi_out file:

 275: No INSERT permission.
Error in line 1667
Near character position 24

Database closed.

Cleaning up whatever was successfully created

Database selected.

 274: No DELETE permission.
Error in line 1
Near character position 23

Database closed.

Did permissions not get set right or something?  Does it use the
informix login to run this stuff?
