Hi guys,

we want to restore a backup (Legato Networker 7.1) of a IDS 9.40 to
another server.
On 9.20 we copied the ixbar.0 and oncfg...-files to this server and
started the restore with ’onbar -r’

But now we get this error:

2005-10-20 15:38:00 760  760 onbar -r -t 2005-10-20 06:00:00
2005-10-20 15:38:00 760  760 BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE  exceeded maximum
allowed limit. Changing buffer size to 61440.
2005-10-20 15:38:00 760  760 Error parsing bootfile
I:\informix\SID\etc\ixbar.0.

Hi,

this usually does not happen.

Is the IDS version of the instance to be restored
the same as the IDS version of backed up instance ?

Other than that it could have happened that the file
was damaged ?

Regards,
Martin

So the backup is from IDS 9.40 and you are trying to restore it using
IDS 9.20!

Like you can restore an new Informix version using an old Informix
version.

What were you thinking?

Restore using the same version of IDS you backed up with and on the
same OS version.

Some people! Duh!
