We install our engine and connect in one file system and the CSDK in
it's own file system.
We do not allow anyone but the DBA to use the engine file system.
The developers would like to use dbaccess on occasion.
Also they may only have access to the webserver that connects to the
database server.
If they are working on a production issue they need to run dbaccess
from that remote server.
This keeps them off of the dedicated database server.

What would be required to install just dbaccess in the CSDK file
system?
IDS 9.40.XC#
AIX 5.#

I know, not supported.  I just want to know if it can be done.
We use sqlcmd and perl for this purpose, but some of the slower
developers still like the menu driven query tool.

Thanks

I know it can be done with IDS 7.31 on Linux, don't know about 9.40 and AIX.

Just copy dbaccess from the DB server over to the equivalent directory
on your client machine and execute. It will most likely tell you about
missing .iem files. Copy these over to the appropriate directory, and
everything should be just fine. Maybe you'll have to do this in an iterative
fashion, and maybe you will need a tool like "truss" or "strace" (don't know
if available on AIX) to find out which files it is failing to find.

It's unsupport, but can be done.

Look at the package provided for windows and follow the model.
