Currently running 9.40.FC5 on Solaris 9.  Have been asked to migrate the database.  So I did a complete install on the new remote server also Solaris 9.   I installed 4glrds, 4glid, isql, engine, csdk in that order. I did run the run-as-root scripts following the server install and the sdk install. I have initialized the rootdbs and have a fine new empty instance up and running.  However, when I try to run isql or r4gl I get errors:

srsfifxdb01# isql
ld.so.1: isql: fatal: libifsql.so: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

srsfifxdb01# r4gl
ld.so.1: r4gl: fatal: libifsql.so: open failed: No such file or directory

I installed the production installation a cou;e of years ago with no problem. In both cases I used the bundle installer (ids_install) to install the engine.  I extracted the files from the csdk cd and ran its installation as informix.  I did run the run-as-root scripts. I seem to recall something about softlinks.  In earlier versions, there were 3 or 4 softlinks that had to be created in /usr/lib. I have been doing a comparison of the running production instance and the new installation but cannot see the problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. This is also an active PMR with informix support.

thanks

John,

When I was running 9.4FC5 on Solaris 9 I don't remember having to use
LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64.  Did support give you any explanation why the new
*_64 library variable was needed?

John,

Thanks for the follow-up.  I'll file it away under my "docs" dir.
