I thought there was going to be some kind of news/media blitz for Informix 10?
I keep waiting and watching but haven't seen anything but that awful CRN news item.
What happened?

Were you at the Information on Demand conference?
It was pretty "blitzy" there.
There was a chat with the labs the other day ('run Cheetah run') (I
missed it, I was at IBM Oracle->DB2 class).

If I was at the conference you would have heard about it.

I was going to use that...

Yes, you are right, he's asking about public blitz.
But I have a question.... .does IBM really blitz that way? Yes, they
market "information on demand" .... I see the commercials and print
ads..... but I don't know if I can say I specifically see television
commercials about DB2 outside of tech related stuff.
So are we asking for something for informix that IBM just doesn't do in
general?
.... I will duck for the tomatoe throwing now.... :)

Possibly he means an information blitz to the public at large, rather
than
the occasional "Preach to the choir" event ...?

Good question. You should have directed your question to Bruce Weed
during the Chat w/ the Lab on Wednesday. I asked him when they were
going to take the DB2 out of their IOD magazine and replace it with,
"IBM Information Management". He said they "working on it" and to look
to the future for a new face. Stuart Litel then responded with: "I
asked them about an "Informix" magazine, but they didn't like that
idea".

Don't believe there was a plan to do a media blitz on IDS 10
I think there may be some marketing budget to have some marketing prior
to the launch of the product currently codenamed "cheetah". Will this
be a "blitz" or a drip feed over the next 6 months? lets see

The IBM thought police will be paying you a visit soon!

And it wasn't even mentioned at IBM Software Live - an IBM Software division
event this week in London. But they did give pride of place to DB2 9.
However, we mustn't be downhearted. Informix training in the UK is still
almost impossible to find on the IBM web-site and is still not part of
mainstream IBM training - it even highlights this in the catalog - and when
I tried to find any information on EGL I kept being sent from one group to
another.
So, IBM in chaos - what's new
Regards
Malcolm

EGL (Enterprise Generation language) is a component of IBM Rational
Application Developer for WebSphere ( Ithink this was previously called
WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.1).
