Hi all.
IDS 9.40FC9W2, Solaris 9, Backup with onbar and Legato Networker (nsrdbmi).
Following the manual it should be possible to retrieve Logical Logs file
from backup medium by specifying the Log ID.
The manual "Administrator Reference" says:
You do not need to use the -d option if you use ON-Bar because the storage
manager retrieves the logical-log records from the storage device.
I understand that following should work and the logfile should be retrieved
via onbar if it is no longer on disk:
onlog -n 671106 > log_671106
onlog doesn't do as expected. The message is:
Could not locate requested log uniqid. Program Terminated.
How can I retrieve Logical Log files from backup medium if stored with onbar
to examine the records in the file?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
TIA,
Reinhard.

Sorry, I was a bit quick, I found two older threads I opened myself which
delt with the topic, though it's no use:
The undocumented workaround: "export BAR_LOGCHECK=1; onbar -P 671106"
doesn't work with my version.
So my need for help remains...
Reinhard.

Hello Superboer
yes I tried onbar -P -n <logid> and onbar -P <logid> with environment
variable BAR_LOGCHECK=1. It results in the help message of onbar. Doesn't
seem to work with IDS 9.40FC9W2.
The Administrator Reference says:
If you use ON-Bar to back up the logical logs, onlog asks the storage
manager to retrieve the appropriate logical-log records from the backup
media.
As pointed out below it does not work. So I assume it's a bug.
Reinhard.
