3 instance on AIX 5.2 ids 9.4  box.
I do label 0 backup and compress  to disk file daily
and then tar  all the disk files to tape in crontab.
It spare me a lot of time to backup 3 instance archives. But I wonder
that It will damage the disks after thousand times's file creation and
compresses repeatly.  Am I right ? Any better ways of backup ?

No.  Disks are designed to be written and re-written to millions of times.
