Hello all

I am having trouble linking tables in ingres ii 2.0 to access 2000 via
odbc.  The connection works in vdba/netutil/dsn but when I try to link
a table in access I get one of two errors.

Intermittently it does work when I create the link, but after that it
seems to randomly give one of these errors:

All field headings are displayed but the data is replaced with
"#Name?" in every cell.  It also displays the following error message:
"ODBC--call failed"

Alternatively I get nothing displayed apart from an error message:
"ODBC--call failed [CA][Ingres ODBC Drive][Ingres]SELECT on table
gd(#3502)", and when I clear that message I get "Microsoft Access
can't open  the table in Datasheet view."

It displays the details of the table in design view but just won't
open it.

Help!!

thanks in advance

Two questions:
a) Do you have multiple column keys?
b) What version of INGRES the target server running on?

ACCESS produces notoriously rubbish queries that older version of INGRES
were unable to handle especially if the key was multi column.

As a side issue this can also occur if the underlying table structure is
changed after the table is linked. Use the linked table manager to
refresh the link.
