Say an article is posted on c.d.i, x-psoted to c.d.o, as in the
recent "is Oracle technically better than Ingres ?" thread. Will
a reply from behind the info-ingres gateway be propogated to
c.d.i and c.d.o, or just c.d.i? If only the latter, then comment
from c.d.o will be stifled and any discussion become completely
one-sided and die out.

It died out even on c.d.i. No bad thing really. In the absence of any
agreement on what dimensions are be discussed, and an ordering function, it
was a daft question. (Sort of like asking which is better, red or green?
Toast or artichokes? Stuff or nonsense?) I feel ashamed that I responded.

Yes - however, can an article gatewayed to Usenet via info-ingres
be x-posted? X-posting is a valid and useful technique to get
answers (also, sadly, mis-used by trolls and repliers to such).

Nothing to castigate yourself for - your reply was concise and
relatively tasteful.
