There is also a web-based forum on the UKIUA site, from what
I can remember. I must say I far prefer the ease of use of
Usenet postings/e-mail over the very clunky (IMO) "forums".

To collect/connect these "bits and pieces" togetner would be really

Appropriate cross-posting is absolutely the right thing to do
in Usenet. Posting the same question individually here, there,
and everywhere makes it harder to see what's happening (this
is unfortunately *not* x-posted)....
