Hi all,

have found out today that there is another Ingres mailing list besides
info-ingres@cariboulake.com / comp.databases.ingres, see here:
http://opensource.ingres.com/projects/ingres/lists

What do you think: is it really a good idea to split the small Ingres
community into several pieces (keep in mind that there additionally is a
web-based Ingres forum now...)?

info-ingres@cariboulake.com and comp.databases.ingres are already
mirrored which is a fine idea. Please, Ingres Corp: mirror the new list
(and also the web based forum if possible) to comp.databases.ingres

BTW, I am cross-posting this message to both mailing lists. What do
others think about this? Is it legitimate to do this in order to reach
greater part of the Ingres community or is it against netiquette?

There is also a web-based forum on the UKIUA site, from what
I can remember. I must say I far prefer the ease of use of
Usenet postings/e-mail over the very clunky (IMO) "forums".

To collect/connect these "bits and pieces" togetner would be really
useful IMO.

Appropriate cross-posting is absolutely the right thing to do
in Usenet. Posting the same question individually here, there,
and everywhere makes it harder to see what's happening (this
is unfortunately *not* x-posted)....
