I suppose you're talking about Ingres II 2.5. I'm not sure if it's
possible to install it on a 64-bit machine. Ingres II 2.6 and above all
have separate installers for 32-bit and 64-bit, I'm not sure about 2.5.

You can try to
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.2
before running ingbuild to solve your gtar problems. This worked for me
in several cases.

Gang,
I've never tried to install Ingres on a 64-bit Linux box, but
I have installed Oracle. Now ... Oracle has a 64-bit version for
Linux, but many of the front-end tools are not 64-bit. When you
install them, usually you first type:
$ linux32
To set up the 32-bit emulated environment. I've never really
investigated it, but I have used it.
Give that a shot.
