Hello Gerhand,
thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry, I really need the Version 9.0.4.

I think the rpm command of debian is using the alien command in
background, because doing it this way gives me exact the same error as
when I'm trying to build and install debs using alien and dpkg.
I think the tar archive with the installer script would be the best
solution for my problem... But unfortunately there is no download for
this Version on the Ingres Website.

Unless you're using OME functions compiled with 9.0.4 and you can't find
library compatibility with 9.2.0, you should be able to configure 9.2.0
to be completely compatible with your existing environment and
applications, particularly for GNU/Linux, regardless of the package
management system. If you need to rollforward checkpoints you *should*
be able to do this as well, although it's probably not supported.
All of the updated features in 9.2.0 from 9.0.4 are optional, e.g.
ANSIDATE, so you should be fine with using 'ingbuild' (the TAR
installation method of INGRES) on Debian, as long as the Kernel is 2.6.
If I've missed something, please let me know. FYI, I think most INGRES
zealots still use 'ingbuild' on GNU/Linux because it always works and is
more familiar than the GTK+-driven GUI installer.

There are 9.0.4 installation tarfiles on the Community download page :
http://www.ingres.com/downloads/prod-comm-download.php
As Mark noted, you should be able to install by extracting the install
directory, then running ingbuild. I don't know if there are any issues
installing on Debian this way, but should be easy enough to try.

Hello,
Thank you to everyone contributing in this thread. My problem is now
solved.
The solution was to add the --nodeps switch to the Debian rpm
installer.
