Can someone point me in the right direction...

I've using the .net 2.0 data provider from visual studio 2005

I can connect successfully using the ingres userid. The host server has
DAS running.

I want to connect using another id. Do I still need to set this user up
with an OS account on the host server or just via accessdb?

Thanks

Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Firstly, are you definitely using the .Net Data Provider from Ingres? You
mention "from Visual Studio 2005". If you want to mange everything through
code then you will need to use IngresConnection class.

With our setup we have a .Net app connected to a linux server running Ingres.
We found that we need the users setup in accessdb as well as an operating
system account. We use their OS login & password to create a database
connection to the host server from the .Net app through the use of
IngresConnection class.

regards,

Dominic
