I'm building a website using php and flash. The only database that's
supported on the server is ingres. I don't know what kind of server there
using. Is there no site in general on the advantage and disadvantage of
ingres?

If you are committed to Ingres, then surely the
advantages/disadvantages are irrelevant!

Just be aware that Ingres is fast and stable, and will work well with
PHP.

I'm not sure where you'd find information about the disadvantages of Ingres.
The main disadvantage seems to be that it is not sufficiently fashionable,
and managers feel inadequate if they don't own the same blockbuster product
as everyone else. Technically it is fine. It works well; it's
self-managing; it's cheap; and it's feature-rich and getting richer.

Contact your local CA office and I am sure someone will be happy to tell you
all about it. There is also a Dutch Ingres user association (www.iugn.nl)
which can help you. Also take a look at William Yuan's web site
(www.cs.mu.oz.au/~yuan/Ingres/ingres.html) for links to dozens of other
sites with Ingres information.
