hi!

i want to move oracle 9.2.0.5.0 from solaris 9 to AIX (which is brand
new).
size is 150 gigs no rac,no replication,no standby.

i feel if i go with exp/imp its gone take a huge time for exp and
space issues for holding the .dmp file (any idea how much will be the
size of the .dmp file for 150 gigs and estimating the time)

is there any other possible or do u think exp/imp is the good choice
to go ahead.

any exact procedure. step by step .

thanks

As this is a platform swap, and RMAN backups are not yet
platform-agnostic, exp/imp is the only way to go.
The size of 150 G doesn't tell anything. You may have allocated 150G
and using only 10g.

The datafile size iam telling , They are of 150 gigs around 70
datafiles.
used % are of 89 for most of the tablespaces. Now what do you think.
Since the current db is on solaris 32 bit, I think it is difficult in
full exp due to export filesize issues and only option left out I feel
is schema level.

   Am I correct?

You can split up the dump file into multiple files. exp help=y will
show you all the parameters. Look for filesize parameter.

http://tahiti.oracle.com points to online Oracle docs.
