Our DAT DDS-3 tape drive finally gave up the ghost and we are
considering replacements.

SUN now has a DAT72 format drive.  Does anyone know if ORACLE RMAN
supports the DAT72 format?

Thank you.

Actually, it's probably Legato Single Server software that will need
to function with the DAT72 drive.  I guess RMAN itself will not care.

Does anyone know if Legato can support the DAT72 format?

Thank you.

yes.

(but probably you will crosscheck this with the HW Compatibility list @
legato.com)

Nitpicking here: RMAN does not support *any* tapes.
There might be a library, you can link with RMAN, that
allows DAT72 drives to be used by RMAN.

Contact a backup solutions software (yes, software!) vendor.
They should be able to tell what hardware they support.
Maybe vice-versa: the hardware (SUN) vendor can tell what
software can be used with these drives.
