Hi,
I just installed Oracle 10g. On one of the installation screens, I
unchecked the box prompting to 'Create a starter database'. Later,
after the prerequsite checks, a screen appeared with the title 'Select
configuration option' with the following options:
[] Create a database
[] Configure ASM
[] Some other options
[] Install database software only
I selected 'Create a database' thinking that it would prompt me to
enter the type e.g. general-purpose, transaction-processing, etc.
Instead, it prompted me to give the database a name, character set,
whether I wanted the sample schemas or not, and later, the passwords.
The first time I installed it, I must have opted for 'Create the
starter database' option. I ran DBCA, selected the option to configure
an existing database, and selected the database I just created, however
all of the options were greyed out. My question is... how do I view
edit the settings for making the DB general-purpose,
transaction-processing, etc?
I realise that these are just default setting that need to be tweeked
anyway, but I'd like to know...
Thanks in advance for any replies.
- Best regards,
Lee

IIRC, you have to select create custom database at the beginning in
order to have the selection to save the scripts at the end.
Just XML file editing to change the settings, IIRC.
