I've been tearing my hair out over this problem for longer than I like to think about, so I figure it's time to ask people who are better at Filemaker than I am. Here's the thing: I have a portal with names related to a specific ID.

someone entered all dates in a text field in the format, "29-Sep-07" How do I convert them all to standard FM date format, "09/29/2007"? There are about 500 records covering several months' worth of dates.

I just upgraded to FM 9 Adv. Went and logged into a FM database thats has been running perfectly with v 8.5 and I found that one of my value lists does not list any items.

I have a couple of valuelists which I want to be filled by field values. This is not a problem; however, FM sorts the values in the valuelist regardless of how I enter them in the field. This is not desired.

Hopefully this is an easy-to-answer question. When I try to import records from an Excel worksheet, the FM tables in the Target drop-down box are grayed out. I think this has worked before - not so sure why it won't now.

I am still having issues with this problem.. Many of you all have helped me so much, and what I've learned I've been able to apply elsewhere, but this is a true monkey on my back. Please help, or ask for clarification if somethings doesn't make sense.

Have it a sense to store various data in the same fields to save database weight? I mean, if I have more record types (3 types), with half data that are the same, but another half depending from a value of a previous field.
