The db2fm process on our server is using 12 % cpu even when no applications are connected. Can i stop this process? Is this required for db2 to function normally? we are on db2 v8.1 with logical partitioning.

Can a View be used to avoid deadlocks? I have a trigger that needs to select data from a row of a table that may have been locked (possibly by the same execution thread that caused the trigger to fire). I can't set the Isolation level of the Trigger

Running DB2 v7 UDB ("DB2 v7.1.0.93", "n031208" and "WR21333") on Windows XP, I am unable to find out why the "Build for Debug" option within Stored Procedure Builder is not enabled on Java stored procedures. It is enabled for SQL stored procedures.

Problem: java ResultSet cursor from SQL/PL stored-procedure is FORWARD_ONLY. Is it possible to have ResultSet cursors from SQL/PL procedures to scroll forward and backwards? Perhaps I am missing something.

I had two TIME fields that i wanted to know the difference in between them. I saw TIMESTAMPDIFF but nothing equivalent for TIME. Further, i want HH:MM:SS format. So, i wrote this FUNCTION. Is there a better way to do it?

one Windows administrator changed the servername (hostname) of one of our database servers. What changes do I have to to to get my databases connected? The catalog statements have to be adjusted, I know.

I'm preparing to take the 700 test...I've studied hard and am almost ready. I have one question: Are there any discount vouchers available for this test? I haven't been able to find any at the normal sources. I certainly wouldn't be averse to saving a few euro wherever I can.
