I just discovered that if I drop a view to recreate it; any dependent views that use it also get dropped. What was Informix thinking on this one??????? Wasn't there some way around this? OUCH OUCH OUCH (But it's a good thing I have the code to recreate them,

Make sure about your sqlhosts (that the hostname is correct - column 3). Incorrect hostname can also give you this message - common mistake when you copy or rename an sqlhosts file from another machine. and that you are using the correct service / port (/etc/services)
