I am observing strange behavior in use of batch inserts of BigDecimal

I am trying to connect to an Informix database through my JDBC
application, but it simply hangs. The DriverManager.getConnection()
method never returns.
I tried and tested the db connection using ODBC and it works.

9.4 server from UC2 to UC7 because of a memory leak with the EDP
software.
They have provided a 9.40 UC7 disk to do the upgrade
