Windows and NET30 Oct 2005 11:31 GMT2
e always had problems with NET on windows (memory leaks, etc) but it
appears that we are starting to get problems on server versions now. Our

I find that a lot of time is wasted trying to understand why a database
procedure doesn't behave as expected (i.e. it doesn't return an error it
just doesn't do what I was hoping it would)
Is there any tool to allow stepping through the stored procedure line by

[Info-ingres] Optimizedb problem26 Oct 2005 09:13 GMT1
I'm trying to run an optimizedb against a table with  long varchars, and
after running for about 10 minutes,  it reports there are no rows in the
table.
The table has 34 million rows.
Table lock problem25 Oct 2005 21:37 GMT9
I've come across a strange problem where an exclusive table lock is
being taken on a large table which is uniquely keyed on a single column
when the table is updated by the key column.  The table key is hash
unique and the table has about a dozen rules.  The table is not scanned

[Info-ingres] nullable blobs and an emptty string21 Oct 2005 16:23 GMT3

I've been playing with a new problem and would like to see if

Error handling in DBPs17 Oct 2005 18:08 GMT1
We all know what the manual says about errors in database procedures:
"If the procedure was invoked by a rule, an error has the following effects:
- The procedure is terminated.
- Those statements in the procedure which have been executed are rolled

Dealing with Chinese data using Ingres 2.608 Oct 2005 21:41 GMT6
We have some Simp. Chinese data in Ingrest 2.6 on a HP machine. We have
been storing dbl-byte data for years.. but not all front-end can
display them correctly. For example:
- it works for ISQL... so we have a system written in 4GL programs on
Quel median calculation07 Oct 2005 10:22 GMT1
I haven't posted to this newsgroup (or any) in about 10 years so be
kind.
Today I decided I needed to do a median on a Ingres column after 20
years of using Ingres.  Looked at Roy's posting 10 years back about SQL
"Is the installation working properly?"06 Oct 2005 10:14 GMT7
Is anyone prepared to part with a (script?) programme that

Ideas so far:
Run SQL on some database to see if that works/is available.
[Info-ingres] Ingres and the seahorse05 Oct 2005 11:55 GMT1

My brother in law noticed that his missus was getting broody.
Desparate to avoid the breeding issue he decided on a cunning plan,
