I'm starting a new thread but this comment occurred to me while I was reading Emiliano's (and other's) comments on GPL etc. Do you notice that the first page of the Ingres web site never mentions the word database?

Does anyone know the legal situation if I download and use the GA version of Ingres 2006 Release 2 and choose not to buy a support subscription? Right-to-use is free, right? The subscription is just for support. I don't pay and don't get any.

I'm running II 9.0.4 (a64.lnx/105)NPTL +patch12343. This was installed on August 26. ie some time ago... The installation has OME functions defined - but no custom datatypes. I have a routine batch job to do an ascii unload of important databases

How can one implement source code control system for ABF applications ? We create a new database and copy all the source code files for every new app version, which has it's obvious drawbacks. For example every change in the lower version has to be manually exported into a newer ...

I migrated a small esql/c report from Solaris 2.8 to Win2000 MinGW. I didn't really know what I was doing at the time. I had to rip out all of the includes and change the function calls. Finally got the thing to go before the client decided to re-write the report using crystal.
