Im trying to eliminiate full tablescans from 'top' sql querries on our database system. I was led to believe that full table scans on very large tables was a big 'nono'. However, I'm finding that running Query 1 below only takes approx. 1

I would like to compress some Oracle tables to see how well they can compress. Is there some sort of a guide or rules for how well tables can compress based on their datatypes? I know that some of our DBA's have managed to compress tables up to 70%.

All the docs I can find at OTN say that Solaris 8 or 9 are required for 10g. We would like to use Solaris 10 (sparc); is this something we'll need r2 for or are others already doing it? thanks,

Hi, in Oracle 8.1.7 there was a demo directory. In 10g the demo directory orahome/demo exists but a lot of the old demos have gone. Possibly our DBA did not install them but where can I download the demo for 10g. Please don't reply www.oracle.com.
