I am not sure how to answer this question:
"What happens if you run a DDL, say alter table, on a table currently
being accessed by a long-running query?"
Would the query fail?

We did this on 2 partitions of different tables today and timings were
very different.One was 10 minutes and other was 100 minutes. Number of
rows are similar but the table that took longer had one more index.

How do i verify direct io is being used by oracle.

I know it is possible to encrypt a package body, or table columns. But
my concern is, can you hide the source code of a view from all grantees
in a similar way ? I mean, using same tools, or a different workaround
must be taken ?

that said "fixed in 9.2.0.7". The patchset will be released sometime

I'm trying to write a query that will, from Oracle 8i, query a Windows
Active Directory and return values based on the query.
I'm not finding anything useful on this topic and was wondering if

Oracle 8.1.7.3.
I've done this under Unix by running the initjvm.sql, but I'm looking

Is it possible to create a db on my local machine and to connect to it with
the only full Oracle Client version?
