I am trying to install 64bit Oracle 9i DB server on a 64bit solaris 9 box. The universal installer goes through till about 85% (in the Link phase) and then chokes with a target ioracle failing. I looked through the log files, and noticed that there were some ld's that were failing

I am working on getting LDAP to work in 8i. I downloaded a script from Metalink that is supposed to help return values. I think the DBMS_LDAP_UTL.GET_GROUP_MEMBERSHIP function is not working because it throws an error.

Sorry this is pretty DUMB question. I have applied the patch for alert 68 recently. I check V$version table or even v$instance in Oracle. Somehow, I have trouble finding which PATCH (of Oracle ) I am using.

1. If you select * from a table, shouldn't that load the whole table into the database buffer cache, provided it fits. I have a script that I found that shows me what's in the cache, but I cannot seem to make 100% of a tables block fit. I could not seem to find the answer in the

We are running RMAN in 8i (8.1.7.4). Is there a way to report on backups that are obsolete or not needed, and delete all of them in one command? Or, do I need to delete each piece individually? I see a lot of documentation on RMAN, but nothing that really tells me
