Why does the queries which uses join have a lower data rate than simple count(*) statement? The db version is 9.2.0.5 , the disk array is raid 10 , emc , fiber channel via 1hba. (100mb. per second read is possible)

I would like to play around with importing an export from 8i (nt 4) into 10g (2003). I need to make sure that all the forms 6i form stuff will work (somehow) properly in 10g before I can switch the users over. I suspect it will take me quite some time to iron all that out.

If I have a Table X in Schema A with 1000 rows spilt between 3 companies (company_id 1,2,3). I then create a view called Y in Schema B which is a Read Only View of table X but only for rows where company_id = 3.

We are using Oracle 8.1.7. I have a table of adresses where there will be several rows for each person. Each row has a column 'isCurrent', and when the value of this column =1 it means that this is the address where the person stays right now.
