I have a user requirement to do Oracle on-line (hot) schema backups and
restores from within my Java application.  What is the best strategy to
use and what are the pros and cons?

I am setting up an Oracle Management Server (9i on Win2K) to test the
functionality.  This has worked OK but I find that when I try to import
a DMP database I get the message VNI-2015.

I'm using the 9.2 Windows client software and would like to upgrate
to the 9.2.0.65 ODBC driver (currently using 9.2.0.54). Now, does
anyone know how to install the driver update? The problem is that the

I have a table in tablespace A with uncommitted transaction and when I
logged in to a different session and tried to alter another tablespace,
B to read only, the session just hung waiting on enqueue wait. I don't
understand why the session has to wait on enqueue when the tablespace ...

but for some strange reason the overall performance of the disks on the
server decreases after it is installed.  I know this because I am using
SiSoft SANDRA Pro to do a File System Benchmark before and ...
