In Oracle 9i on a Solaris 8 system can someone please explain what the
benefits of gathering database stats are?
I am asking in relation to using dbms_stats.gather_database_stats() .
I have heard it can make DML more efficient and add information to OEM

i am  using oracle10.2.0 version on windowsXP.i open sp file once.
i got a proble to start a database..

and I have 3 databases on the server. What is the limit of SGA for all

I have shell scripts which I use to shut down the database and listener

i'm trying to convince oracle to use large pages on AIX 5.3 but haven't

I have a dmp file created with exp on 8i.  The file was created with full=y.
I would like to imp the user accounts, including their passwords and
profiles into a 9i database.  I would like to not bring in all of the
schemas, so I would prefer to not use full=y in the import.  Is ...

I backed up my RAC database using rman every day with full option.
When I restore / recover the database to other server (dev server,

Ok, problem here:
We copied one of our databases onto the test server.......
I asked our jr. dba (mistake there) to change the SID and get the
database up.  Apparently after changing the init.ora and directory
