Does indexing a very big table (about 5Mio records) on the columnA
which can hold only values Y,N,<NULL> make sense?

I want to be able to test my backup by creating a duplicate database
on the same server.
My question is do I have to create a password file to perform this?
Can I not login using the oracle account "/", if so how to I specify

This sounds a diff. type of requirement, But we want to implement
this. Our client wants us
to manage the database but do not want to see the data on some tables.
We can not implement dbms_obfuscation_toolkit as it would be required

Any users of those technologies? I'd like to know of any problems or
interesting experiences with the software from the title when it comes
to backing up Oracle databases using RMAN. I am interested in problems

I was wondering how other people have their servers configured when there is
more than one DBA working on the server/database.
For example things could be a lax as all DBAs can use the oracle unix

I asked a similar questions a few days ago and I got even more confused
trying the solutions they gave me.  I am sure they are correct, I am just
spun in  a circle.
What I have :

We use EXP/IMP utilities most of the time to move the data across
databases. We are spending lot of time to compare the tables in the
dump files and tables actually imported ( if import fails in the
middle). Also import fails sometimes with the error "Tablespace xxx
