I've read a lot about this concept, Recovery Catalog vs Control File. I'm just looking for some real life experience comments. I've always thought that using a recovery catalog only gives you yet another instance to back up.

Regarding the command RESTORE VALIDATE DATABASE, what version or incarnation will this commadn work on? Say I have 3 full database backups.....does it only work on the most recent? Can't seem to find any documentation on it.

I still have to use Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Sparc and would like to make EXP (and IMP) faster. On http://blakgeek.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-impexp-run-faster.html and other sites, I found that I could speed up EXP by relinking the IMP/EXP programs in single task mode.
