I need to find a way for our agency to share data from our SQL 2000 db
running on W2K server with another agency's Sybase ASE 12.5 db running
on Solaris 8.
Ideally, both agencies would enter info into their respective dbs,

Couple of questions on stable queues, which may sound stupid but please
correct me if i'm wrong somewhere.
1. is outbound and inbound queues share the same partition (raw device)
or there has to be seperate device(partition) for outbound and inbound

Or rather how do you fire query using isql being  root of your solaris
host without loggin in as sybase user "sa"?  Because if i am root of
the machine, i dont want to login as a sybase user. Rather i would like
to do something like

I have a stored procedure that has 2 cursors. The first cursor updates
roughly 72, 000 records. The second one should update roughly 750,000
records before it finishes.

references that mention them but don't actually tell me what they are.
In layman/plebb/dbms_idiot terms, could anybody tell me what a data set

We are going to migrate our SYBASE server running on HPUX 11 to another
hardware platform and I would like to ear some feedback sounds from DB
admins running on Linux or Solaris boxes.

I make a clone of a fine running database server to another maschine.  I
use solaris 8/blade 1000/sybase  12.0.  Hardware/Software  is  (more  or
less) identic (Yes /etc/system also).

 Anyone try sqsh yet on the new server?   First I tried running the
sqsh I have compiled from 12.5 and got:
