Trying to upgrade ASE 64 bit from 12.5.2 to 15.0 on Solaris 5.8. I'm
getting the following error when I try to start the server (the upgrade
didn't complete because, presumably, it got the same error):
ld.so.1: /sybase_misc/storage/sybase15.0/ASE-15_0/bin/dataserver:
Upgrading a 12.5.0.3 installation to 12.5.329 May 2006 19:43 GMT5
Is there a simple way of upgrading a 12.5.0.3 SQL server to 12.5.3?
All I can find are ways to make a brand new binary installation and
migrate to that
one.

I inserted a big database 'benchdb' into de sybase server:
When issueing a bunch of read statements i got this error:
"Space available in the log segment has fallen critically low in database
'BASE01_TMP1'. All future modifications to this database will be suspended

If I call :
select show_role()
for a user which is a user alias of another user with sa_role, I get
NULL, although it has of course sa_role.

Is it possible to check if a specified grant is set for a user.
For example, I would want to check if the user A can do a "truncate" on
a table, before doing the truncate and getting an error.

I'm testing external access purposes and have discovered that on a fresh
linux installation (ubuntu, suse enterprise 9.0 & gentoo 2.6)
Installation of Sybase (ASE1500-DE) worked fine on all platforms, but only
on ubuntu i can get remote access to the databases.

    I have several production servers where I have to rename the
sybase instance(long story). Some on windows and some on unix.
What would be the cleanest way to rename the servers?
I'm thinking that I could bcp out the syslogins, sysloginroles,

alter table modify <column> <new_datatype>
I saw this command on Sybooks website, however it's in 12.0 version
